SMS Length

SMS has a maximum length of 160 characters, including spaces. However, including special characters, some accents, and emojis reduces the maximum characters that can be used to 70. If more characters are needed in our message, messages can be concatenated.

How to know the characters my SMS will have?

The number of characters will depend on whether we use GSM7 or UNICODE characters.

For messages with GSM7 characters, the maximum allowed characters per message are 160. However, if UNICODE characters are used, they are reduced to 70.

If we exceed the character limit, our message will be divided into several SMS, although the recipient will receive the message as a single SMS.

Additionally, when concatenating messages, the maximum length per message is reduced to 67 for GSM7 and 153 for UNICODE.
